As promised, here is my new project, Willamix! It is a podcast of electronic music from the Willamette Valley here in Oregon. I just released it on Monday, and I’m happy with all of the feedback I’ve gotten so far. I’m hoping it can continue to serve as a great way to collect all of the great sounds going on around in the area, and to fulfill my urge to DJ.
One of the most important parts in both producing and DJing is listening. As such, I am always scouring the internet for cool new sounds to enjoy as well as inspire me in my own work. Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of SoundCloud and connecting with a lot of very talented people from around the world. Today I’m going to share with you a collection of tracks I’ve found recently that I really enjoy, and I hope you dig them as well.
First up is this track from British producer Handbook. I haven’t been able to find out much about him other than that he is some sort of half man half citrus fruit that makes insanely good beats.
Ninja Tune never ceases to amaze me. I usually have SoundCloud open in a tab while I’m doing something else and then flip over when something catches my ear. Half of the time when I flip over, it’s an artist I hadn’t necessarily heard of, but they are on Ninja Tune. As for a prime example of Ninja awesomeness, this is it. There is a rule against buying yourself presents right before Christmas, and since the local record store didn’t get Mr. Oizo’s new album right after it came out, I had to wait until after to pick it up. Since I did, it has not left my car stereo. MR OIZO – STADE 2 by oizo mr 3000
I hope you enjoyed the tracks. If you want to see more of what I’ve found on the interwebs, you can find me on SoundCloud. A lot of my tracks are there as well. Also, if you are a musician/producer, I listen to anyone who follows me. Who knows, you could be on the next listening post!
