*Bold indicates the Jam of the Week. The Jam of the Week rocks the funky beat.

On this, the first official Cleveland Show of the year, I busted out the Drum and Bass and went full out on the airwaves of Eugene. I figured KWVA’s new tower could handle it. I started out easy, I am going to have to do something to effectively start after a country show.

I realized that I play a lot of really old dance (from the 90’s). I guess its a little strange that I totally dig the stuff that was coming out when I was ten, especially when the majority of people listening to it at that time were tripping out in warehouses at raves. But in Europe it was on the radio, and I fell in love with this kind of music just chilling in car rides to play dates. Its just interesting to have conversations about this kind of music, because invariably the only people that have heard songs like Get Get Down or anything by Aphrodite are older than me.

Anyways, that’s all the commentary for now. I will be DJing the EMU Amplitheatre on Friday at 3 at ye olde Street Faire. Be sure to tune in next week as well!

Welcome back to another exciting year of The Cleveland Show! Today was a little big preview of what is to come. The show started a little slow, both tempo wise and my performance wise, but I perked up with some great dance classics and a large soda. I feel like it was an overall success as I got a couple compliments on my selections.

I didn’t want to talk much about today, as this was just a warm up exercise for some of the DJ sets to come. My regular show is going to be Monday nights at 10PM to Midnight (PST). Also, this Friday at 1 PM I will be rocking out the EMU Amplitheatre! Thanks for listening and checking out the blog. See y’all Friday!

*Bold indicates jam of the week, or in this case the jam of the summer.

This episode was the last before the summer, so I thought I’d do a recap as well as some summer jamness. I also got called to do an extra hour, so I did a more grooved out/funky pregame mix.

The pregame was a little mix of whatever. My parents came to visit, so I put on the Star Wars funk while I showed them around. I had to share the new Gaga vid everyone is talking about as well. The rest was a mix of more hip hop oriented stuff.

The first hour was the Jam of Jams of the week, all of which are pretty epic. From there on out, it was straight ahead dance party. I kicked it old school with some Vengaboys, which may very well be the Jam of any summer in existence.

Thank you all for a great first year of DJing! Over the summer I will be rehearsing with my mixer and newly purchased korg pad kontroller, so look forward to some MPC- Style madness in the fall!

Stay Classy,

Clode

*Bold indicates jam of the week. Thats right, it was Justin Bieber. I am forsaken.

This week was a wrap up of sorts for the term. I will be doing my show next week, but I wanted to let the good times roll while people were getting anxious over exams. The first hour was the usual Clodewerks dance mix. I threw in LCD Soundsystem’s new album, which I just got and have been enjoying.

I got a couple requests this week. First, my girlfriend requested Justin Timberlake, of course. I obliged, pleasing every other female audience member as well. Everybody loves a little Justin (Is that why Justin Bieber is so hot, collective confusion of first names?)… Katie and Sarah back in the AL requested some song I didn’t know, but I know that Sarah loves country, so I dropped some DeZurik Sisters. EPIC!!

Then I debuted my Carnival of Cleveland, which I think went ok. I need to prepare some more before my performance on Wednesday. Comments are greatly appreciated. I will be playing it at Beall Hall at 2:50, and I’m totally cool with people coming and checking it out. The rest of the show was recouping from that ten minute epic. I closed with the Private Psychadelic Reel, which is fitting because it closes one of the best albums in electronic music.

Good luck with finals. I will see you next week!

*Bold indicates what it always indicates, le Jam de la Semaine.

This week I had no clear plan as to what was to come out. A lot of the work that I do at the School of Music here is performance based, so I thought I wouldn’t think to much and would just perform. The title lends itself to one of a few comments I got on the track “Mic Check” by Cornelius. If you haven’t heard the album that its on, “FANTASMA” you should probably get on that.

The jam of the week comes from an artsy hip-hop album by Dabrye. I wanted the CD really bad in high-school but never got around to it until I saw it laying around the station last week. I couldn’t play my favorite tracks because the FCC would not be happy with me if I did.

Other than that, it was a pretty usual fun show. I played my own trumpet/flugelhorn track that I’m thinking about redoing for the album I will be working on over the summer. I played both Phantom and its sequel with an intermission. Next week might be my last before the summer, so be sure to tune in. Over the break I will do something DJ related, but I haven’t decided between live or podcasting. Either way it will be pretty great as I will have more time to practice.

See you next week, Sunday at 6PM PST on KWVA, Eugene 88.1!

Stay Classsy,

Clode

*Bold indicates jams of the week.

This weeks show was fairly doomed, but ended up being very good, not to brag or anything. First things first, Lost was having its season finale halfway through my show. Apparently, It was to be the TV event of the decade, a pretty bold claim considering we’re only 5 months into it. I had to bid the followers adieu halfway through the show. Secondly, the beloved chatbox on the KWVA webstation was not working.

I powered on through it all though. Beta Collide put out a wicked new minute-long single about some article about the music industry. It won the jam of the week with its epic bass and cartoonish vocals. However, Twilight in Turkey by Raymond Scott kept coming up on shuffle on my iPod. It is a pretty epic song in its own right, and I think it would be sweet to perform it in a small ensemble setting for something music major related. That’s why I decided to have two jams this week.

Other than that it was just a regular Cleveland show, with some interesting layering and ending with a very random track. I felt especially proud of what I did with the DJ Shadow track as well as how I did with mixing into the Prodigy track. The Carnival Of Venice is embedded into my subconscious at this point from constant practicing.

That was how the Cleveland Show went down.  If you’re feeling down about the loss of Lost, tune in next Sunday at 6PM (PST) to KWVA (www.kwvaradio.org) and dance the bad emotions away. As always, Feel free to leave me a message with any requests as I prepare for next week.

* Bold indicates jam of the week. (Originally the Bonobo track but the DJ after me was hating on  90’s house, especially the hardsyles,  so I had give some props to the music I grew up listening to.

This week, the Cavs got beat by the Celtics in the NBA playoffs. To fit the mood of Cleveland, I went down-tempo for the first half hour of my show. Another reason was that I have definitely been enjoying the DJ Center  and Bonobo albums.

From there I moved up in tempo throughout the rest of the show. In the first hour I did my french electro thing with some of the Ed Rec. crew and Daft Punk. By the second hour I was doing straight up house and trance. That track BSOD is pretty funny.

Thanks for checking out the Cleveland Show. Feel free to leave me a message with any requests as I prepare for next week. As always, tune in next Sunday at 6PM (PST) to KWVA (www.kwvaradio.org) for another action packed episode!

* Bold indicates the Jam of the Week.

This week was Mother’s Day, so it was pretty obvious why Moby and Air were in the mix. I also thought that my mom would like some of the DJ Center stuff and the Groove Armada track I played. It is also very apparent that I got Ed Rec Vol. II this week. My friend Katie wanted some JT and I was happy to oblige. I’ve been watching old episodes of Bones with my girlfriend so I played some old tracks by Crystal Method, because they do the theme song for the show. Deadmau5 is still in the mix because I got At Play II last week as well.

This week’s show went fairly well, although the phones were down at the station, and I’m sure most people were spending time with their mothers rather than dancing to the radio. I played some Clodewerks, including a snippet from my spot that should be floating around the KWVA airwaves. I know a lot of college students out in Ohio are getting done, so they can have the free time to tune in next weekend!
