*Bold indicates jam of the week. Thats right, it was Justin Bieber. I am forsaken.

This week was a wrap up of sorts for the term. I will be doing my show next week, but I wanted to let the good times roll while people were getting anxious over exams. The first hour was the usual Clodewerks dance mix. I threw in LCD Soundsystem’s new album, which I just got and have been enjoying.

I got a couple requests this week. First, my girlfriend requested Justin Timberlake, of course. I obliged, pleasing every other female audience member as well. Everybody loves a little Justin (Is that why Justin Bieber is so hot, collective confusion of first names?)… Katie and Sarah back in the AL requested some song I didn’t know, but I know that Sarah loves country, so I dropped some DeZurik Sisters. EPIC!!

Then I debuted my Carnival of Cleveland, which I think went ok. I need to prepare some more before my performance on Wednesday. Comments are greatly appreciated. I will be playing it at Beall Hall at 2:50, and I’m totally cool with people coming and checking it out. The rest of the show was recouping from that ten minute epic. I closed with the Private Psychadelic Reel, which is fitting because it closes one of the best albums in electronic music.

Good luck with finals. I will see you next week!

Carnival of What the Duck?

Week 10. Dead Week. Everything you have been putting off for the term is coming back to haunt you. Then you get a video assignment. Your first thought, “this will be a great opportunity to try stop-motion!” Bad idea. The result is pretty much the same quality that you would expect from a film by Edison, but it works because the piece is from the same era.

The assignment was to post a video of a performance of my jury piece. I figured that since I was already doing so much with It, I would make an interesting video too. Since its a ten minute piece and the process was taking a lot longer than the ten minutes it would take to record me sitting in front of my computer playing it, I decided to just do the intro for now. I felt that doing a boring video would not represent the time I put into the piece.

So in lieu of the ten minute youtube, I will be performing all variations live on Sunday on my radio show (Sunday, June 6, 6PM on 88.1 or online). The Jury itself is supposed to be posted to youtube as well, so it will be available probably in a couple weeks.

As always, comments are greatly appreciated, and are conveniently free to give out!

Thanks,

Kyle

Why I Haven't Been Posting of Late

The Carnival of Venice is a very lovely tune,

I play it to look flashy,

and to make the ladies swoon.

Sometimes I’ll mess up a rhythm,

or won’t quite multiple tongue.

It doesn’t matter to me though,

’cause this tune is too dang fun!

* I will be posting my own version to Youtube in a couple weeks. Bring the Pain!
